Hope4Summer: Connecting, resourcing and amplifying people making a difference this summer

Background to hope4summer

Hope4Boro is a space to connect people doing stuff to bring life to our town and to transform it into the best it can be. For the last few years, Nexus had organised some great collaborative summer fun days – small groups working together to share resources and make a difference. Local faith groups really led the way back then. Then, in early 2014, Together Middlesbrough were also thinking through similar thoughts. Together we dreamed up an initiative: Hope4Summer. We were given some cash to develop that idea and to support activities ran by our local link groups. We were able to put on free activities in several locations across town and fund voluntary projects who try really hard each year to raise hope in Boro. There are good things going on all over town, providing brilliant opportunities for young people during the 6-week holidays. In 2015 we were able to map what’s going on so that we can all see, at a glance, where to take the kids. Hope4summer is a banner to show where the community heroes are, to bring us together to share positivity and a way to help each other out when things gets difficult. So hope4summer is two things:

A community for anyone to find activities and ideas for the summer. And
A network providing support and connection for the community heroes making it happen

Do you have a simple idea that could make a difference in 2016?  What would you like to see happen for young or old? Together we can make the town a special place to be over summer!  #hope4summer
